Dance party
Pick a room in the house that has the most open floor space. Plug in the iPod or put on the kid’s favorite cd and have a dance party. You can make it a contest. You can play freeze. Kids love being in charge, so let them takes turns pushing the pause button. This is the perfect activity to get kids to get rid of some energy even when it’s raining outside.
Hide and seek
This game is fun, but easier with older kids. They should be old enough to understand which rooms are off limits and what types of hiding places are safe. This is a fun game game that gets them to move around a bit too, so that they’ll get out some of that pent up energy.
Build a fort
Use blankets and pillows to build a fort in the living room. You can use the couches, chairs and ottoman to drape the blankets over. You can help them build the fort and then sit back while they play! This activity will keep them busy and entertained on a rainy day. Just remember to play the clean up game when they’re done!
What are your go-to rainy day activities?
